How to Choose the Best Cabinets for Your Lab

1. Consider what elements the cabinets will be exposed to. Certain materials need to be used to withstand chemical corrosion, heat, bacteria, moisture, and impact. The anticipated exposure should direct your lab casework material selection. 2. Consider optimizing storage for lab work. Your lab storage configuration should keep essential lab equipment and supplies close at hand. Consider modular storage for customizable shelving and flexible systems for mobile storage. Also make sure to plan for any supplies or equipment requiring specialized storage (chemicals, sensitive measurement devices, etc.). 3. The key to ensuring your lab cabinets are optimized is to always ask a professional - like us! Our lab furniture specialists are well-equipped to understand your specific needs and point you to the ideal cabinets and casework to fulfill them. We are also well-equipped to help you find the best possible lab casework to fit your budget.

The bottom, top, door, and sides of the cabinet shall be at least No. 18 gauge sheet iron and double-walled with 1½-inch air space. Joints shall be riveted, welded, or made tight by some equally effective means. The door shall be provided with a three-point lock, and a door sill shall be raised at least 2 inches above the bottom of the cabinet."

Additionally, the National Fire Protection Agency (FPA) 304.3.2 states: "Not more than three (3) such cabinets may be located in a single fire area."
